This Wedding at The William Aiken House in Charleston, South Carolina, Was the Epitome of Elegant

Although Megan and Chase reside in Chicago, their love story began in Charleston so it was only fitting that the duo returned to the Lowcountry to tie the knot. For their elegant garden wedding, Megan and Chase filled the day with details inspired by both locales. From Chicago hot dogs on the menu to Charleston pralines given as favors (alongside Garrett's popcorn), the entire celebration was a sophisticated blend of both the Midwest and the South. The personalization didn't stop there though! A few nods to Chase's Kentucky home state also made their way into the nationwide inspiration for the wedding. "Chase is originally from Kentucky and a bourbon connoisseur so wore cufflinks crafted from a bourbon barrel, along with his groomsmen, and our signature drink was bourbon peach lemonade," shares Megan. "Lastly, we exited to our guests waving Clemson and Kentucky pom-poms, representing our alma maters." Megan goes on to share how much the couple "loved getting married in Charleston, which is where our love story began and a place that will always feel like home to us. We had our ceremony at St. Luke's Chapel on the medical university's campus, which is where we met. Our reception venue, The William Aiken House, is a perfect reflection of Charleston with timeless Southern charm and something we wanted our guests from across the country to experience. We envisioned a classic, romantic vibe with stunning florals. We wanted to look back on our wedding in 50 years and still love everything about it. Our color palette contained primarily neutrals with blue accents, which coordinated well with the yellow walls of The William Aiken House."

Looking back on the wedding day Megan shares that the "most anticipated moment for both of us was the ceremony. I was calm all day until right before the ceremony started, but the second the doors opened and I saw Chase at the end of the aisle smiling at me, my nerves vanished." She goes on to note that while the ceremony was the most anticipated moment of the day, her "favorite moment of the day was walking into our reception for the first time, onto the dance floor, surrounded by all our loved ones cheering and seeing everything we had envisioned come to life."
