This Wedding at Riverbed Farms in Anaheim, California, Was All About Sustainability
Hosting a wedding that was sustainable and environmentally conscious was of utmost importance to Zoe-Raven and Spencer. “Spencer is vegan and we both care deeply about our communities and being eco-friendly,” Zoe-Raven says, which led the couple to select a sustainable urban farm as their venue. After nailing down a location, the duo found other ways to make each aspect of their day more sustainable. They served a completely vegan menu that was provided by a small BIPOC-owned food vendor and eaten with compostable cutlery. “Weddings are expensive and it was imperative to us that all of that money went into the pockets of small businesses and not massive conglomerates.” Much of the décor was sourced secondhand, the flowers were made from paper and the beauty products used were all cruelty-free. Zoe- Raven even chose to have her dress shortened, which has allowed her to wear it “several times since the wedding.” Zoe-Raven encourages current to-be-weds that making your wedding sustainable is “easier to do than you might think and so important. Any effort in sustainability is impactful, even if you can’t do it all.”
