This Wedding at Porta Restaurant in Asbury Park, New Jersey Was Filled With Confetti and Neon Lights
Wedding pros Adrienne and Melissa are no strangers to the industry, so they were able to plan a standout day in only three months, although they admit, “We totally needed a day-of coordinator.” The two went with a “tropical meets Miami Vice” theme, brought to life by large palm and monstera leaves, gold spray-painted plastic animals and cheeky signage. The finishing touch was the neon “My Beauty” sign, something they’ve said to one another since first meeting.
Porta’s back room doubles as a nightclub on the weekends, which was “exactly the feel we wanted to have,” Adrienne says. The meal was, fittingly for Jersey, pizza—“really amazing pizza,” Melissa says. “Another bonus of our venue was that we could come back and eat there anytime after our wedding.” Besides the ever-present ferns, the living décor also included palmetto, amaranthus, dahlias and agonis. Guests took home cookies decorated to look like the brides with a fun note on the back. “It had a sticker that read, ‘Please forgive us for the annoying drive down here,’” Adrienne says.
