This Wedding at the Lodge at the Rock in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Was Filled With Shades of Blue

For their wedding at Lodge at the Rock in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Taylor and Ahbi filled their celebration with a variety of serene blue shades that befit their natural surroundings. "Our wedding was truly a showcase of us," says Taylor. "We just wanted everyone to have a blast and enjoy some of our favorite things! I would consider our wedding style a modern take on boho. Our colors were shades of blue, and we incorporated a lot of greenery, white flowers, and gold accents throughout our decor. Abhi is South Indian, so we incorporated unique South Indian elements throughout the day. Overall, it was a day we will never forget."

The couple relied heavily on DIYing decoration details to bring together their blue-hued Wisconsin wedding. "I made all of our signs out of acrylic and painted them by hand," Taylor. To complement the DIYed elements, the couple brought in plenty of gold accents and lush floral arrangements. "We had clear wine bottles for the table numbers and filled them with greenery and spray roses. We also had gauze table runners on the all-wood tables to play up the whimsical style. We both love gold and it is a big part of Indian culture, so we had gold chairs and gold accents throughout our day. The ladies had whimsical bouquets with white peonies, ranunculus, spray roses, and several types of greenery. The guys had matching boutonnieres and there were more white roses and greenery throughout the venue to decorate. We also had a white and greenery floral piece on our ceremony arch and at our sweetheart table."

Beyond planning a visually beautiful day, it was important to Taylor and Ahbi that their day feel uniquely their own. As such, the couple made sure to personalize their Wisconsin wedding day in multiple ways. "From incorporating South Indian elements, to just including some of our favorites," the couple made sure to put their own spin on their wedding day. "We put floral garlands on each other at the end of our ceremony, we served both Indian and Mexican food, had a smores bar available for the outdoor fire pit, served mini ice cream cones instead of cake, and played a mix of American and Indian music throughout the evening. After the traditional first dances were through, we surprised everyone by coming out in full Indian attire and dancing to an upbeat Indian song. We even had a custom Snapchat filter for guests to use because we met through Snapchat," notes Taylor. Not only was the Snapchat filter a fun addition to the wedding, but it also was a nod to how the social media platform brought Taylor and Ahbi together. "As crazy as it sounds, my husband used to be a stranger who added me on Snapchat," shares Taaylor. "I'm so glad we both took the leap and eventually went on a date because we ended up here! Abhi proposed on a warm, sunny day last June. He enlisted the help of some of his closest friends to decorate a spot at a lakefront park with flower petals, balloons, photos, and signs. It was so special and heartfelt."

Looking back on the wedding day at Lodge at the Rock in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Taylor recalls how "we had a lot of special moments on our wedding day, but two stand out to me as the most impactful. The first was when we read our private vows during our first look. It was a quiet moment to really reflect on our relationship and be grateful for each other. Neither of us could get through those vows without crying and it was just really special to us both. The second most impactful moment was when we did a quick change into Indian attire and surprised our guests. It was a rush to try to change so quickly and get to dance to such an upbeat and fun Indian song with my husband. We had a blast!"
