This Spring Wedding at Lansdowne Resort in Leesburg, Virginia, Honored The Bride's Korean Heritage

"Born half-a-globe apart, but raised only a town away, our cultures are both overlapping and distinct," explains Kacey of her relationship with Dan. When it came time for the couple to plan their wedding at Lansdowne Resort in Leesburg, Virginia, it was paramount to the duo that they highlight the beautiful differences and similarities that drew them together. Kacey goes on to explain that "we wanted this day to not only highlight where we come from but also the creation of something new in our marriage. We wanted to keep the ceremony timeless by using a neutral color palette. I was inspired by neutral pieces and lush greenery given my love for plants and herbs. If I had to put a label on the theme, I would say 'Lush English Garden.' In symbolizing the creation of something new, the wedding arch was designed and made by my husband, with my mother-in-law as the mastermind in the decorative floral pieces around the arch. I had my longtime friend and pastor officiate our wedding and we made an appearance in our Hanbok (Korean traditional outfit) during the reception to bring a piece of my culture into the wedding day."

After much debate, the couple ultimately decided to have a first look before their wedding, a decision they're immensely grateful they made. "We debated whether or not we wanted to do the first look, but so glad we ended up doing it! It was a special, intimate moment away from the craziness of the wedding day," says Kacey. "There was a light drizzle of rain and an ever-so-perfect breeze that blew my veil and became a canopy over our heads."

Dancing has always been a central part of Kacey and Dan's relationship, so it's no wonder their wedding reception dancing was a memorable part of the wedding day. Kacey and Dan bonded early on while dancing at a friend's New Year's Eve party. Months later, Dan even proposed while slow dancing to a George Gershwin song. To keep up their love of dancing, the couple did the iconic lift dance from the film Dirty Dancing as their final dance of the wedding reception.

Looking back on the wedding day, Kacey and Dan encourage other couples to focus on planning a wedding that is uniquely their own based on the decisions that matter to you as a couple. "Don't get swayed by opinions of others during wedding planning, and do what makes sense as a couple," they advise.
