This Intimate Minimony at Brooklyn Winery was Officiated Remotely

Carrie and Jonathan Durbin's, "wedding plans started and stopped a few times, all for logistical reasons. Most recently, we had been planning to be married in June. We were planning a small wedding in Brooklyn, but the pandemic changed that. Even if it had been safe to gather, much of Jonathan's family lives in Canada and couldn't attend. Jonathan and I had plans to marry in June that were put on hold due to the pandemic. By the end of July, we decided that we didn't want to wait any longer to get married, so we decided on a microwedding that was planned in 3 weeks. We wanted something intimate so loved ones could watch over Zoom, but we wanted something visually interesting that we could memorialize with beautiful photos—Jenny completely exceeded our expectations! Jonathan's brother is a Rabbi, who officiated over Zoom. Oh So Beautiful events planned the entire thing for us which was the single best choice we made for the microwedding to save time and stress. Literally, all I had to do was show up with my dress."

Since Brooklyn Winery is, "a naturally gorgeous space with fresh plants and rich neutral tones," the couple kept additional décor to a minimum, focusing mainly on their ceremony Chuppah. "We had a very simple Chuppah that was anchored with candles. The space had dark colors (browns and metallics) so the chiffon draping on the Chuppah really popped," Carrie says. Like the décor, the guest list was kept to a minimal, curated list. "The room was just me, my husband, my daughter, and two relatives so there wasn't much in the way of personalization but Oh So Beautiful hired the most amazing violinist who played our favorite songs, and that was perfectly intimate. We also had our vows written in calligraphy which made the ceremony a bit more special," shares Carrie. Although the pandemic forced Carrie and Jon to, "make decisions without ruminating or overthinking," because of the quick timeline, in the end, they,  "didn't regret a thing."
