This Couple's Wedding at Villa Del Cardinale in Italy Included a Foot-Washing Unity Ceremony

What's more romantic than a lakeside celebration in Italy? That's right, nothing! To celebrate their marriage, Crystal and Matteo planned a waterfront wedding complete with a faith-filled Christian ceremony and a festive reception. "Our wedding took place in a beautiful city outside of Rome, Italy, called Rocca di Papa," says Crystal. "The venue overlooks a breathtaking view of Lake Albano. The inspiration behind our day was classic elegance where the florals and the backdrop of the lake were the main decorations. Our color palette consisted of white pink green and beige. My husband is Italian and I'm American so we tried to blend both cultures together in the ceremony by adding traditions from both sides. We are both followers of Jesus, so one of the things that really inspired our wedding ceremony was a heart of worship and celebration of not only our marriage but the symbol of Christ and His Church.

"Crystal explains that "one of the special things about our wedding day was that it was a family affair! Matteo's cousin and her husband are musicians and they not only provided the live music for our ceremony, but they were also the DJs for our reception. Our favorite part of the wedding was our ceremony, because it was a beautiful spiritual moment so full of emotions, and celebrating all God had done to make our day happen. Also, the fact that many of my family members from America could be there made it even more special, because all the travel restrictions for Americans to Italy were literally lifted just a week before our wedding. It was truly a miracle! Another reason that the wedding ceremony was so special was because we decided to wait until our wedding day to share our first kiss ever. We know that this is unusual, but since the beginning, we felt from God to protect that special moment until the day that we were married. We are so glad that we did it because it was so memorable and made it so much more full of significance."
