This Couple's First Look Took Place in a Bamboo Grove Ahead of Their Miami Beach, Florida, Wedding
When designing their Miami Beach destination wedding, Minneapolis residents Ashley and Connor took most of their inspiration from the destination itself. The self-professed avid travelers first felt a connection to the area on a trip there years before. “The people, the culture and the atmosphere are so great,” Ashley says. “Seeing the Nautilus rooftop sealed the deal.” The pair filled the event with beachy, sand-inspired colors and textures as well as tropical monstera leaves. Connor also designed the paper goods, which included illustrations of Miami Beach’s iconic palm fronds. “We wanted the vibe to be tropical, but also minimal and modern,” Ashley says. After the ceremony, guests sipped freshly made mojitos and watched in surprise as Ashley and Connor took to the dance floor for an impromptu salsa dance to Camila Cabello’s “Havana,” accompanied by a three-piece Cuban band. “It felt like a movie,” Ashley says. Ashley, Connor and their guests raised toasts, snacked on lamb empanadas and danced in the Nautilus’s backyard, which Ashley calls “our very own little green oasis.”
