This Couple Took Portraits at Prospect Park Before Their Wedding at Brooklyn Winery in New York
Eunice and Chris started their big day off with wedding portraits in Prospect Park before they decamped to New York's Brooklyn Winery to exchange vows and celebrate with friends. "When Chris and I were planning for our wedding, we agreed that we wanted to host a festive party that not only showcased our style, but also honored our beloved friends and family," shares Eunice. "We wanted something aesthetically pleasing for the both of us, but still comfortable and fun for our guests to be a part of."
The couple's venue selection played a large role in helping bring their dream aesthetic to life. "The moment Chris and I stepped into Brooklyn Winery, we knew it was the perfect place to bring our ideas to life. The fact that it was a winery was a plus (we like to drink) and the location was ideal—we met and fell in love in New York City and Brooklyn was our favorite borough where we currently live. The venue was a charming space, boasting a glass ceiling that let the sunshine in and a wooden wall lined with succulents. With some more greenery, we could easily envision the winery transforming into a cool, urban greenhouse."
Unfortunately, despite finding the perfect wedding venue, the pandemic meant Eunice and Chris had to delay their dream wedding. "When the pandemic hit, safety became a major priority for us as well," says Eunice. "Right after we selected our venue in January 2020, we heard the news of the COVID-19 pandemic spreading across China. Chris’s parents live in Hong Kong and Chris also works in hospital operations, so he was immediately alert to how serious the situation was. We postponed the wedding and approached the planning process with caution. We were prepared to cut a large portion of our guest list and collected vaccination and COVID testing information from our guests. We feel so lucky that in July 2021, things fell into place for us. Restrictions were lifted across the city as COVID cases started trending downward. All of our originally intended 110 guests were either vaccinated or tested and felt safe enough to attend. And to top it off, the sun shined on what was supposed to be a rainy day."
"Our wedding day was an amazing culmination of luck and many people’s hard work. We wanted our wedding to feel whimsical - displaying some romantic elegance but also quirk and fun," recalls Eunice. "Florals played a big part in our wedding! We picked Brooklyn Winery as our venue because it was a charming, rustic space, boasting a glass ceiling that let the sunshine in and a wooden wall lined with succulents. With some more greenery, we could easily envision the winery turning into a cool, urban greenhouse. Our talented florist helped us achieve our green dream, decorating the venue with textured vinery draping along the string lights and vintage bud vases sitting pretty on all the tabletops. We especially loved the roses creeping across the large windows of the venue as they served as the backdrop to our ceremony. The florals really helped bring our vision of romance and whimsy to life. With the help from all of our family members, friends, and vendors, we enjoyed a night full of love against a lovely backdrop. This night felt like a miracle to us in the midst of a global pandemic and will be a memory that we will forever be grateful for."
