Florida natives John and Matthew let the décor of the Miami Beach Edition lead the way when wedding planning. “We fell in love with the sights and smells of the hotel,” John says. The couple matched the hotel’s luxe palette with metallic shades of black and white, but punched things up with pops of green and a surprise: “We had to throw some hidden Mickeys in the décor,” Matthew says. “We are Florida boys, after all.”

John and Matthew kept the aesthetic clean and modern for dinner. White tablecloths dressed round tables alongside gold chargers and eye-popping installations. “We wanted the décor to be an extension of the hotel’s luxe spaces,” John says.  Calla lilies hovered above some tables, while roses and tulips topped others.

John, a former DJ, took the playlist seriously, from entrance to exit—so much so that he hit the DJ booth to spin a few songs. Unexpected numbers included a jazz version of Taylor Swift’s “Love Story” and an acoustic cover of Robyn’s “Hang With Me.” “We picked every song prior and had plenty of Beyoncé and Rihanna, so it’s safe to say we nailed the music,” John says.

Partygoers sipped The John, a Casamigos Reposado on the rocks, or The Matt, a Ketel One martini with no vermouth and blue cheese olives. “We had to hold o a bit on serving those, otherwise too many of our guests would have ended up on the floor too early,” John says. The couple served two different cakes, both with a sleek, gold-rimmed design. Guests chose between confetti with chocolate ganache and carrot with cream cheese.
