This Couple Threaded Hot Pink Throughout Their Glam Wedding at Sagamore Pendry Hotel in Baltimore
Lauren Beamon (36 and an event planner) and Tarik Dickens’ (46 and a real estate investor) love story is the stuff of rom-coms. “We were walking down the street in Miami, going in two different directions and locked eyes,” Lauren says. “Although it was a magical moment, we, unfortunately, didn’t get to speak. I figured if it was meant to be, we would find each other again.” As fate would have it, the couple ran into each other again while out on the town. When Lauren and Tarik decided to tie the knot 11 years later, they planned a glamorous “bold, vibrant and lush” wedding worthy of their fairy-tale meet-cute. The event, filled with a spectrum of pink and red hues— plus ample texture from velvet, metal, botanicals and crystal—impressively came together within three short months.
The hotel’s stunning architecture inspired much of the wedding’s design. “This may sound cliché, but our inspiration came from the venue and Pinterest,” Lauren says. A floral arch and sign greeted arriving guests at the ceremony. In addition to roses, Lauren’s preferred bloom, the arrangements included orchids, hydrangeas and pops of greenery. Instead of a floral arch, the couple exchanged vows “surrounded by a hedge of lush flowers and lots of candles." Given that the summer event took place in the property’s outdoor courtyard, the couple created programs that doubled as fans. Following the ceremony, "at the reception, we had beautiful estate tables with chandeliers, crystals, candles and roses,” Lauren says. “We repurposed the altar decor for our sweetheart table, which included a beautiful runner of flowers and lots of candles. We also adorned the custom dance floor with our logo and the floral design from our invitation.” Additionally, much of the day’s stationery—from laser-cut drink stirrers to table numbers—was made from acrylic, adding a modern note to the ornate event.
Family was an integral part of Lauren and Tarik’s wedding. To honor their loved ones, Lauren and Tarik printed pictures “in remembrance of our deceased family members and placed them at the ceremony,” Lauren says. She further honored her family with her wedding vows, as she promised “to be faithful and supportive and to always make our family’s love and happiness my priority. My favorite memory of the wedding was the double rainbow that appeared after our ceremony. In my opinion, that was our ancestors watching over us and solidifying our union." Additionally, a shared highlight for the couple was when their youngest son gave his speech.
