This Couple Combined Southern Elegance With Parisian-Inspired Flair for Their Wedding at The DeKalb History Center in Decatur, Georgia
Brandi and Joshua know what they want, down to the very last detail. From the beginning, Brandi had a clear vision for their wedding day. “I was inspired by my favorite movie, Steel Magnolias,” she says. With that in mind, Brandi and Joshua sought to combine Southern elegance with Parisian-inspired flair, from the Baroque stationery design to the monogrammed macarons. And, of course, they ended with “a good ole Southern party to close the night,” Brandi says.
Brandi walked down the aisle wearing a cathedral-length veil embroidered with her maiden name initials. Brandi and Joshua tied three cords together during the ceremony, “symbolizing the joining of man, woman and God,” Brandi says. The couple closed their ceremony by jumping the broom, which they covered in blush-pink and navy-blue ribbons. After an entrance to T.I.’s Southern hip-hop banger “Bring ’Em Out,” Brandi and Joshua made their dance floor debut to “Loved by You” by Kirby. “It’s a song about not knowing love until you encounter that person, and it’s exactly how we felt about one another,” Brandi says.
Brandi and Joshua dressed up the historic Courthouse’s marble floors and walls with drapery, gold chiavari chairs and flower installations. “It matched our Southern elegance theme,” Brandi says. Textured blush linens covered in roses, dozens of candles and a towering rose and cherry blossom installation marked the newlyweds’seats. Romantic mixes of white and pink roses and hydrangeas filled weathered vintage gold vases and sat near towering gold candleabras, all atop blush-pink tablecloths.
