The Denver Botanic Gardens inspired Kendra and Daniel's wedding style from the start. Their stationery, printed with an architectural design, corresponded with the cut stone and molded concrete found at their venue. The vibe—“elevated backyard garden party with a touch of The Secret Garden romance,” Kendra says—was realized with greenery and muted grays and blues. Kendra wore a custom gown covered in lace, which she felt mimicked the flowers growing in the gardens surrounding the ceremony.  The ring bearers carried ring pillows made from Kendra’s late grandmother’s lace handkerchiefs while bridesmaids held bouquets of lisianthus, garden roses, cosmos and dusty miller tied off with hand-dyed gray silk ribbons. Acoustic folk and bluegrass music created a serene scene for their outdoor cocktail hour overlooking lily ponds and citrus plants. Guests found their seats with the help of stones that the bride calligraphed herself as a nod to her profession as a geologist. Tablescapes completed the rustic feel with an array of vintage cut glassware, gray and white striped linens and a loose arrangement of artichokes and hop vines at each table.  “We wanted the arrangements to be really natural,” Kendra says, “as if they were growing right out of the gardens.”
