Rayna Lucier (34 and a project manager) and Maurice Rawls (36 and a nonprofit site director) both hail from the Northeast, but have deep roots in the coastal South. Rayna and Maurice swapped vows in front of Forsyth Park’s iconic fountain and paid homage to their families and incorporated ancestral traditions like jumping the broom. "My grandmother customized our broom with family names, cowrie shells and our wedding colors," Rayna says. "It meant a lot to both of us when she placed the broom down for us to jump over." Rayna’s bouquet of roses, astilbe and seeded eucalyptus got a second life as table décor.  "Our theme was a celebration of black love," Rayna says. In line with that ethos, the pair framed photos of famous African-American couples to decorate tables.  The pair cut loose to “Luchini (This is It),” by Camp Lo before heading to the sweets table to enjoy included mini lemon pound cakes and a variety of ice cream flavors, including pumpkin and butter pecan. The newlyweds hopped in a pedicab at the end of their reception.
