This Classic Wedding at the Cincinnati Art Museum in Cincinnati, Ohio, Had a Gray-and-Navy Palette

Amy and Jeff are both from Shanghai, but since they met and live in the United States, the couple wanted an American-style celebration with touches of Chinese culture. “I think assimilation, while at the same time keeping your heritage, is very important,” Amy says. In that spirit, they held a simple church wedding followed by an elegant reception at the Cincinnati Art Museum that incorporated Chinese pop music and the character for double happiness. Shades of dusty blue, white and light gray unified the décor, down to Amy’s sparkling Manolo Blahniks. Amy wore a custom gown she bought in Shanghai and carried a bouquet of hydrangeas, roses and astilbe. Tall vases of roses, hydrangeas, snapdragons and orchids filled the museum’s airy Great Hall, which the couple chose for its dramatic classical details and city views. “Most of our guests came from out of town, and we wanted to give them a good impression of Cincinnati,” Jeff says. A garland of Italian ruscus, nagi, roses, dahlias and eucalyptus ran down the head table. For dinner, the couple offered porcini-crusted black cod or duck breast, with push-up cake pops as a sweet finish. White chocolate mousse filled layers of hummingbird, strawberry and red velvet cake. The couple personalized the Chinese tradition of gifting candy by giving out custom M&Ms and jars of local honey.
