These Grooms Transformed a Field in Stowe, Vermont, into a Rustic Wedding Celebration

As skiers, mountain bikers and all-around outdoor enthusiast, Chis and Josh have spent many hours in the mountains around Stowe, Vermont, so it was a simple decision to tie the knot at Strawberry Hill Farm, a private estate in the area. For their outdoor field wedding, the couple settled on an aesthetic that was "rustic, chic, fabulous and fun," bringing in neutral hues that mirrored the landscape's existing color palette.

As a grand entrance to their ceremony, the couple arrived in style in an antique car, owned by Chris' grandfather which was, "not only dramatic, but very meaningful to the family." Since the locale is stunning on its own, Chris and Josh exchanged vows in front of a simple birch arbor which made space for, "a breathtaking panoramic view of the majestic Green Mountains as the backdrop," they share.

When it came to thinking about what traditions or rules the couple did or didn't want to follow, Chris and Josh chose to make their wedding fully their own. "With gay marriage only legalized in 2015, it feels like there are not many 'rules' about how gay weddings are supposed to be, which gave us the luxury of picking and choosing what traditions were most important to us. We opted to have both our parents walk us down the aisle, had one of our closest friends perform the wedding ceremony and then partied the night away with non-stop dancing!" In addition to a night full of dancing, the reception also boasted a fun surprise—the a cappella group from Chris' college performed for guests.
