These Barefoot Beach Nuptials on Tybee Island in Georgia Came Together in Two Short Weeks

After the pandemic derailed Alex and Hunter's initial plans to tie the knot in Ohio, the couple rolled with the punches and decided to blend their bachelor party with their wedding on the coast of Georgia. "Due to COVID-19, we had to postpone our originally planned wedding for a safer alternative. We planned the ceremony, in conjunction with our bachelor party, in under 2 weeks and it came together seamlessly! We originally chose the location due to Savannah's picturesque landscapes, and the love that Alex has for the ocean. Though we couldn't have our family there, we knew this wasn't the final celebration," says Hunter.

Since the bachelor-party-turned-wedding came together in two short weeks, the duo relied heavily on friends to help DIY the event. "People found bits and pieces from decor and linens at home and brought them along," they recall. "We didn't have time to truly have anything made for the wedding, but the amount of effort everyone in the wedding party pitched in to help make the day memorable, was what made this the most personal."

The couple goes on to explain how they managed to pull together a dream wedding day on such short notice. "With short planning, we had to get creative. We used the backyard of our Airbnb that we were staying at and hung several hundred feet of string lights across the trees and throughout the back deck. We took the tables that were inside the cottage and draped several ivory linens and used different parts of the bouquets with palms and eucalyptus as the runner on the tables. We added small tea lights and geometric holders that we planned to use for our canceled wedding. Our flowers were a mix of palm, eucalyptus, and other assortments of greenery. We had white roses as boutonnieres with twine, and little accents with baby's breath. These were found at a local grocery florist as we wanted to keep it simple and were impressed by the options found."

Looking back on their whirlwind wedding planning and short-notice wedding, the couple encourages current to-be-weds to keep things in perspective, no matter the road blocks along the way. "I think that the circumstances made us realize that a wedding was not always meant to be this huge ordeal that we make it out to be. Having some of our best friends and family who supported us throughout our ups and downs and be there on the big day, we felt nothing but love. Remember that the wedding is a symbol for the joining of your lives, not for a party. The day will end but your marriage is only getting started."
