Personalized details and a lush palette made their mark at Theresa and Patrick's wedding. Not content to simply have something blue, the couple made a blue color scheme their signature. The Bride Theresa diPierno The Groom Patrick Dorey The Date June 15 In June of 1999, Theresa diPierno attended a party for her pal Kristin. Patrick Dorey was the first person Theresa met when she arrived. Kristin is one of my closest friends, says Theresa, but we're still not sure why Patrick was there. We think he was crashing-but we are sure glad he did!In the gray, New York winter of 2001, the couple made a getaway to San Francisco for Valentine's Day. At dinner, Patrick took Theresa's hand across the table and proposed, much to the delight of the other diners at the restaurant. Later, the couple drove over the Golden Gate Bridge to admire the city from afar. Says Theresa, It was here that we sealed the deal with a kiss.

Theresa and Patrick, who live in New York City, wanted a serene setting for their wedding, so they explored the towns of the Hudson Valley (where Theresa also grew up) as they scouted for sites. Evelyn's View, a bed and breakfast with great views of the Hudson, was a love-at-first-sight choice for both. Because we would be celebrating outside under a tent, it was like working with a blank canvas, says Theresa. They decided to highlight the lush, green setting with a palette of soft blues, lavenders, and periwinkle.
The First Dance
The processional was unusual because Patrick and Theresa made their way to the altar arm-in-arm. For us, says Theresa, it was very symbolic of our independence and our conscious choice to bring our lives together. The ceremony, written by the couple, was on the short and sweet side, according to the bride, and it ended with guests tossing lavender on the departing newlyweds.
The Cake
Theresa carried lavender roses and blue-petal hydrangea tied with periwinkle ribbon.
