Theresa and Chris met and started dating while studying at Fordham University and volunteering as board members of an organization called Global Outreach. During their first summer as a couple, the two spent a lot of time at Central Park, sunning on one of their favorite flat rocks. One day a couple asked Chris to take their picture then followed with the question, “Are you two married?” He immediately -- and awkwardly -- blurted, “No!” The Bride Theresa DeOrio, 28, a registered nurse The Groom Chris King, 26, a high school teacher The Date June 28 Fast forward three and a half years to Chris’ birthday: he asked Theresa to meet him in Central Park and led her to their favorite rock. Once there, Chris asked, “Theresa, do you remember when that couple asked if we were married and my reaction?” Theresa laughed and he continued, “I wanted to bring you back to that same spot to tell you that I do want to marry you.” The couple spent the next year and a half planning an orangey Summer wedding at The New York Botanical Garden.
