The Traditions

Jenn and Ken chose to incorporate the “arch of sabers” tradition into their nondenominational outdoor ceremony. Honor Guard volunteers from Hickam Air Force Base stood at the top of the aisle, drawing their swords when Jenn and her father began their walk toward the gazebo. Once the couple walked back up the aisle, the volunteers again drew their swords, and the lead saber bearer stopped the couple by placing a sword in front of them, signifying their moment to kiss. Then, the bride was welcomed into the U.S. Air Force as a member of the U.S. Air Force family.
