The Traditions
Since both Sherif and Mira are of Egyptian heritage, cultural traditions were at the forefront of the traditional Coptic (Egyptian) Orthodox ceremony. The religious affair included a crowning and vestment custom -- the crowns and vestments symbolize that the newlyweds are the king and queen of their own kingdom within the Orthodox Church. Traditional Coptic hymns, performed with cymbals and triangles, infused the ceremony, along with chanting by the bishop, three priests, and four deacons.
