The Theme

I absolutely love the romance and joy of the Christmas season, says Amy, explaining the choice of a December wedding date. The planning was done in five months, a Sunday date making it possible to book vendors normally reserved a year in advance. The great thing about the barn was that it was a totally empty canvas, says Amy. The tough thing about the barn is the amount of work required to make it pretty. Industrial heating and hundreds of chairs were rented (the barn supplied tables), and a group of 40 dedicated friends and family turned up the day before the wedding to string up twinkling white lights, hang tin lanterns from the beams, put candles in the windows, arrange fresh spruce and fir branches, and decorate a huge Christmas tree with the silver ornaments that guests took home as wedding favors.
