The Stars Were Perfectly Aligned at This Celestial-Inspired Wedding in Long Beach, California

Janise Whitmore and Kelsi Barron looked to the stars when planning their wedding in California, coming up with a celestial theme and navy, mauve and gold color palette. "We just wanted the whole space to radiate with love and fun. We throw a mean house party and wanted our wedding to have an elevated cozy feel with a splash of magic," they share of the inspiration for their wedding at The Loft on Pine in Long Beach, California. The celestial wedding theme began at the couple's wedding ceremony, thanks to a creative backdrop.  "I couldn't make up my mind between getting married in front of a huge flower arch or a moon. Emilee being the greatest wedding planner ever was like, 'Okay Janise, we'll do both.' So she had this huge crescent moon cut from wood and painted it to incorporate it into our flower arch.," Janise recalls. Beyond their starry inspiration, the twosome also added other details of personalization to the wedding at The Loft on Pine. "We personalized the space by bringing in some of our favorite things from our home—our Harry Potter and Jurassic Park books...our dinosaur cookie jar and of course—part of our epic Funko Pop doll collection to bring it all together." The California couple also enlisted a harpist for the ceremony and served up a custom cookie bar later in the evening at the reception. Beyond all the details, the couple's first dance is a moment from their California wedding they recall being a highlight of the celebration. "We danced to Donald Glover's remake of the 90's classic, 'So Into You.' It was so great to be close to her and really feel her hold me for the first time as wife and wife. Then about halfway through, we invited all of our friends and family to join us in our couple dance. We felt like at that moment we were really joining our friends and family to be part of our newly wed world."
