The Reception
Exiting the church in a shower of lavender petals, Melissa and Chip made their way to Figlio Towers, where the reception spanned a lounge with the bar and the dining room. The circular dance floor, where guests grooved to laptop beats, featured huge windows overlooking the J.C. Nichols Memorial Fountain. Floral arrangements nested in large and small antique vases graced the tables, along with tea lights. Romantic low lighting contributed to the evening's wonderful mood. Icing scrollwork designed to mimic Melissa's gown adorned the cake that capped off the Italian-inspired feast. Melissa advises not to fixate on perfecting material details, noting that the couple is what makes a wedding perfect. She adds, I honestly don't know if anyone noticed all the details, but I know that everyone saw us glowing. That's the only important impression in my opinion. The square, four-tier cake had alternating raspberry layers.
