The Location
The Bonnet House is a lush, green oasis right in the middle of the highly developed city of Fort Lauderdale. Built in 1920 as a vacation home for the artist Frederic Bartlett and his wife, the art-filled mansion, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is cooled by ocean breezes. The courtyard is home to a group of Brazilian squirrel monkeys that feed on the fruit groves, and the lagoon is a placid pool complete with floating swans. After finding the Bonnet House, the wedding plans easily fell into place for the couple, even though by then they were living in Denver. The wedding coordinator at Bonnet House, Joanne Carey, was excellent, raves Megan. She helped us choose all the vendors and I couldn't have done it without her.
