The couple married under a gazebo in a quaint garden amid the 109 acres of the Fort Worth Botanic Garden, where trickling waterfalls heightened everyone's sensibilities. Shyra's three-year-old brother was the ring bearer and wore a white tux to match the groom's. He was very serious about his task, says Shyra. Before the wedding, he was furious about not having my ring on the pillow. My mother, frantic to keep him from crying and making a scene, took the silver lining from a piece of chewing gum and made a ring. Relatively satisfied, he and the three young flower girls who were dressed in white ball gowns and ballerina slippers started the ceremonial procession to a recording of Stevie Wonder's Ribbon in the Sky.
