The Favors

In honor of Joe’s grandfather, who passed away a year before the wedding, the couple gifted guests with sticks of Big Red gum in boxes tied with plaid ribbon. Joe’s grandfather used to tell Joe that if he liked a girl, he should give her half a stick of gum; if he liked her a lot, she should get the whole stick. When Beth met Joe’s grandfather for the first time, he told Joe to give her an entire package of gum.
