The Ceremony

Both the ceremony and reception took place at Winfrey Point, a city-owned building that sits beside White Rock Lake. With the large main room, screened-in porches, and lakeside outdoor patio, it was perfect for Melissa and Dave (and not just because they live right nearby!). The couple exchanged vows on a grassy lawn rimmed by the building’s drive. A flower-covered wrought-iron arbor stood behind the couple, framing the wedding party in front of the lake as the sun set behind them. Glowing farolitas created by Dave’s family lined the perimeter. “His parents line the sidewalk of their home with these decorations every Christmas, and preparing the bags, sand, and candles is always a family affair,” Melissa says. Other friends and family members made numerous contributions to the nuptials, and several of the vendors were actually close friends of the couple.
