The Ceremony
Balance was essential for their Catholic-Jewish nuptials -- both a priest and a rabbi officiated, incorporating meaningful rituals that were explained in the wedding programs. The couple signed their ketubah (Jewish marriage contract) during the ceremony, rather than before the ceremony so, in essence, they were marrying in front of God and their guests at the same time, Christina explains. They also lit a unity candle and included the practice of giving flowers to the Blessed Virgin: Christina knelt while Sean stood behind her with his hand on her shoulder, and they both asked for Her blessing of their marriage. The couple also incorporated the Kiddush cup (using Sean's from his bar mitzvah) and breaking of the glass rituals.
