The Ceremony

Jennifer and Dave opted for a traditional Hawaiian ceremony, performed in both English and the native language. We were adorned with fresh pink-and-white orchid leis. Intoxicating! says Jennifer. As part of the sunset service, the couple's wedding rings were blessed with a fresh bowl of ocean water. We were given a lava rock wrapped in a Hawaiian leaf, says Jennifer, referring to the custom symbolizing a couple's everlasting love. After the wedding, Hawaiian custom calls for the couple to find a secret spot to bury the lava rock for all eternity. Jennifer recalls, We both knew where we would hide it: the spot where we were engaged.
