The Ceremony

Family and friends came from near and far (S'el's father flew from Guyana, South America; his sister from his birthplace England) to help celebrate the nuptials. The self-described blended couple from a blended background -- Mae grew up on Long Island in a large extended Italian and Jewish family where we'd have lasagna and sausage and peppers at bat and bar mitzvahs -- decided to have a Jewish ceremony outside at the Picnic House. But a light rain moved both the ceremony and the hand-carved huppah (decorated with flowers and bittersweet vines) indoors.
