Lance DeWalt (44 and a senior visual director at Anthropologie) and Quoc Nguyen (44 and a technical design director at Urban Outfitters) created a bright, fun garden party with bold patterns and plaid details.

“We wanted the wedding to be quirky and colorful,” Lance says. The fashion-forward couple modeled the look of their day after designer Thom Browne’s Spring 2013 collection, with Quoc sewing plaid tablecloths for the occasion. Other unexpected touches included their invitations, which were designed by a friend and depicted the couple as paper dolls in 1920s-era bathing suits.

Floral designer Sullivan Owen created lush centerpieces set in milk-glass vases. “The day after our first kiss, Quoc sent me flowers from Sullivan,” Lance says, making the choice to book her as their wedding florist a no-brainer.

A naked carrot cake with cream cheese filling was topped by a vintage cutout of two men, which Quoc had bought as a gift for Lance before proposing to him.

Lance was escorted down the aisle by his best friend, and Quoc followed with his sister.
