Eight years after first meeting while they were working part-time in Tallahassee, Taressa, 29, an office manager for an architectural design firm, and Mike, 28, a sales rep, traveled to Barbados for their friends' wedding. The five bridesmaids wore celadon green strapless drop-waist gowns by Bill Levkoff, and carried white dendrobium orchids with fuchsia throats. Orchids, orchids, and more orchids, Taressa says of the bloom of the day.

When Taressa and Mike entered the dining room at their reception, the first thing they saw was the cake. We both did a double take and said, 'That's not our cake!' Taressa says. The cake baker came through in the end, though, delivering the flavorful confection made up of yellow and raspberry swirl cake with cream cheese and raspberry filling, and chocolate cake with chocolate and raspberry filling.
Guests at Taressa and Mike's wedding were greeted with orchids as they made their way to the reception at Dr. Phillips House at The Courtyard at Lake Lucerne.
Since Tareesa's grandfather was the architectural designer for the Cathedral of Saint Luke's renovation project in the mid '80s, it seemed only natural for the couple to exchange vows in the ornately detailed structure with its vaulted ceiling and stained-glass windows.
Bunches of pink vanda and mokara orchids in silver vases graced the tables at the historic mansion, which has a secluded courtyard off the back of the house with a brick terrace that was perfect for dancing.
It was Taressa's wedding dress -- a white, strapless, silk satin gown from Jasmine Haute Couture with a sweetheart bodice and beaded embroidery -- that dictated her wedding's tone: romantic and elegant, with a bit of Swarovski sparkle.
