Tanya & Chris: A Modern Wedding in Honolulu, HI
Tanya Elders and Christopher Warburton had met several times before, but Tanya didn’t remember who he was when a mutual friend of theirs called her. Tanya was headed to Hawaii to visit her parents, and her friend, who also lived there, suggested they get together with Chris. The two hit it off, and though Tanya was living in New York and Chris was in San Diego, they began dating long-distance. Six months later, back in Hawaii, Chris popped the question. The couple chose to make their Hawaiian relationship their wedding theme since, as Tanya explains, “We loved the idea of vintage Hawaii.” The ceremony took place at the Waikiki Aquarium, which the bride says “has a very funky, retro Honolulu feel to it.” The wedding day was filled with tropical touches, from the orchids that adorned the bridal party’s hair to the signature drink, named for the proposal site -- the “Makapu’u Bikini Martini,” a lychee martini with a drop of blue curacao that looked like the ocean.
