Tam'ra and Reinhard planned a summer wedding that would celebrate and reflect what brought them together -- their Caribbean heritage The Bride Tam'ra Osborne, 24, assistant brand manager The Groom Reinhard Powell, 26, Ph.D. candidate at Georgia Tech The Date July 23 Tam’ra’s Caribbean heritage is very important to her: She was born in Kingston, Jamaica, and lived there until age eight. She was attending Georgia Tech and struggling with calculus when a friend introduced her to Reinhard. Like Tam’ra, Reinhard was also born and raised in Kingston, and then he moved to Atlanta to attend college and fatefully ended up as Tam’ra’s calculus tutor. Though Tam’ra says they didn’t have an official first date, she knew Reinhard was special when he celebrated Mother’s Day with her family. “He arrived with a bouquet of flowers for my mom -- and a bunch of tulips for me!” she remembers. Almost five years later, the couple took a Fourth of July trip to Chicago where Reinhard proposed during a horse-drawn carriage ride. After Tam’ra happily said yes, the two began planning a summer wedding.
