Summercamp Sweetheart Garden Wedding

Sarah Jacobs (27 and a marketing manager) and Justin (JP) Held (28 and a rabbinical student) had their hearts set on sharing the essence of their home with friends and family on their wedding day. “We wanted our wedding to feel as welcoming and comfortable as we think our home is,” the couple says. With designs inspired by their apartment’s décor, the duo created a serene garden scene decked out in potted plants, greenery and classic black and white with plenty of personal touches.
Both Sarah and JP carried pieces from their loved ones with them. Sarah completed her elegant look with a set of pearl earrings (a family gift), while JP paired his dark gray suit with his father’s watch.
To complement the wedding’s color scheme, Sarah’s crew wore long black dresses in their preferred style or a sharp suit that matched the groom’s polished look.
The couple combined bold typography with the day’s modern colors for a unique suite. A variety of plants and ferns in various textures and sizes served as organic centerpieces and potted details throughout the space. The pair topped their cookie cake with the same bride and groom figurines that JP’s grandparents (and other subsequent family members) used at their own weddings.
A mix of rectangular and round tables covered in white linens, black chairs and a greenhouse-inspired structure draped in greenery set the scene in the reception space. Since Bob Dylan went to the same camp where the lovebirds met, they chose his song “Make You Feel My Love” for their first dance. JP let the music move him through the crowd once the party picked up. “It was a sweaty mosh pit gone so right,” Sarah says.
