A Ski Themed Wedding at the Evergreen Country Club in Haymarket, Virginia

Lindsay Nicholas (32, event planner) and Justin Nicholas (33, IT consultant) share a love of skiing. Their love of skiing ran so deep that it became the theme of their happy wedding day. Lindsay and Justin met at a mutual friend’s birthday party. They had attended college together, but they didn’t know each other well. Lindsay took the first step in initiating their relationship: “I pursued him and, well, he pursued back!” They moved in together and got a dog named Bella, who took part in the wedding. Justin proposed to Lindsay at Magen’s Bay in St. Thomas. Their wedding took place at the Evergreen Country Club in Haymarket, Virginia, which they chose for its affordability and stunning scenery. “It’s in the countryside, so the ceremony was held outside against a beautiful mountain backdrop,” says Lindsay. Lindsay and Justin had fun with the ski theme, including ski motifs and signs throughout the wedding, but they also maintained a rustic feel throughout the whole event. The color scheme included shades of taupe, gold and peach. Playful features in the wedding included a loveseat made out of skis that was built by Justin, ski-themed cardboard cut-outs for pictures, lift tickets for escort cards and a pair of skis to serve as the guestbook.
