Although they lived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Nicole and Tim celebrated their nuptials in Nicole’s hometown of Holland, Michigan. The day started with a traditional ceremony at Graafschap Christian Reformed Church, where Nicole’s parents and grandparents had exchanged vows years before. “One really special moment was when my dad gave me away,” Nicole says. “My parents adopted my twin sister and me from Korea as infants, and when the pastor asked my dad ‘Who gives this woman?’ instead of the traditional response, my dad said ‘When Nicole arrived many years ago, her mother and I received her as a gift from God. Tim, we ask that you receive her in the same way.’ ”
