A Shabby-Chic Wedding at Variety Works in Madison, Georgia

While Valerie Lipscomb (28 and an economic development director) was out celebrating her birthday, one of her friends pulled up Shane Duvall's (28 and an environmental consultant) Facebook profile in hopes of setting the pair up. Valerie was intrigued and invited Shane to join the birthday festivities—they quickly hit it off and became inseparable after just their first date. After a five-month engagement, the couple exchanged vows during an outdoor fall ceremony followed by a rustic reception at Variety Works in Madison, Georgia. A rich plum color palette popped against the golden autumnal foliage and vintage accents added a shabby-chic vibe to the relaxed celebration. The couple arranged most of their flowers including the clusters of cream roses and hydrangeas spilling out from their lantern centerpieces. From an old door that was repurposed for a ceremony informational display to the distressed wood frames built by the bride's father, DIY personal touches enhanced the welcoming feel. "We actually viewed the old mill reception space before it was even finished," says Valerie. "I knew from the moment that I walked in that it was the perfect spot with a wood interior and dainty fixtures."
