When Sevgi and Richard met in a salsa dance class, they had no idea that they would eventually become partners for life. But they did just that in a celebration filled with fabulous color and fantastic music. The Bride Sevgi Kara, 36 The Groom Richard Musolino, 52 The Date July 25 A white wedding was the furthest thing from Sevgi's mind when she was planning her wedding to Richard. In fact, the artist and real estate investor had a different color palette in mind altogether: Fuchsia, lime green, and orange were the signature colors of the celebration at Aldie Mansion. I love bright colors, explains Sevgi. And since we met through salsa dance class, we wanted to have a colorful salsa wedding.

Sevgi and Richard’s ceremony took place in the garden of Aldie Mansion, beneath a stately oak tree hung with handmade paper lanterns in fun, bold colors. The couple stood with their children under an oak branch and exchanged personally selected vows in front of 70 guests.
“I was never drawn to white wedding gowns,” Sevgi says. Instead, she chose a handmade asymmetrical ivory silk dress with an uneven skirt -- perfect for dancing.
Guests walked inside Aldie Mansion to find a space awash with Sevgi's colors. The tables were dressed in lime, fuchsia, or orange tablecloths, and topped with fragrant asymmetrical centerpieces of lilies and orchids.
Everyone at Richard and Sevgi’s wedding enjoyed the evening, and no one slowed down for even a moment. In addition to salsa, a little funk, line dancing, and even the hustle were thrown into the mix. “We danced all night long,” remembers Sevgi. “I realize now that there were no slow dances.”
Sevgi and Richard’s wedding feast was topped off with two layers of Sacher torte and one of cheesecake, filled with raspberry filling, and covered in dark chocolate ganache and Swiss dots.
What would a salsa-themed wedding be without dancing? Richard and Sevgi hired dance instructors to help guests learn a few merengue and salsa steps before dinner, so they were ready to go once the New York–based salsa band started playing.
