Sarah & Chris in Gallatin, TN

Mutual friends in New York set up Sarah and Chris on a blind date. Chris wanted to meet Sarah at the Museum of Modern Art, because he thought the art would spark conversation, and he was right: After the museum, they went out for a drink, which turned into dinner, which turned into dessert and an after-dinner drink! One year later, Chris suggested they revisit the museum on a day off from work. When they arrived and were standing in the exact spot where they had first met, he knelt down and asked Sarah to marry him. The Bride Sarah Orgain, 29, financial reporter The Groom Chris Thoren, 37, high school Spanish teacher The Date September 26 Sarah always imagined her wedding outside of her parents’ home in Tennessee. She wanted to make it easy for her grandmother to attend, and since the majority of Chris’ friends and family had never been to Tennessee, they figured they could show everyone a good time, Southern-style. Although the couple first planned to hold the ceremony outside, it rained for three weeks leading up to the wedding, leaving the ground soaked and muddy. Disappointed at their luck, they visited the little country church where her grandfather had gone as a child, just a mile from Sarah’s home. The new venue ended up being their favorite part of their celebration -- it was intimate, with guests packed shoulder-to-shoulder, clapping to a bluegrass band! They followed up with a reception in her parents’ backyard barn, sparsely decorating to maintain an elegant style.
