Samantha Ernst and Scott Hickey stayed focused throughout their wedding planning -- they picked a theme (candy) and really went with it. From edible chocolate invitations to candy-encrusted vases, no detail was left unsweetened. They are neither heirs to a candy fortune nor die-hard Willie Wonka fans. They are simply a creative couple who had a great idea -- to infuse their wedding with a candy theme -- and were bold enough to carry it through. Samantha credits Scott with the initial concept, which was inspired when he suggested edible centerpieces. From there, she says, we thought about ways to make the invitations edible, and the candy theme was born. For an entire month, the couple spent every evening melting chocolate and pouring it into molds. They made 75 red chocolate boxes to hold the vellum-wrapped invitations, packed them carefully in strong cardboard boxes, and headed for the post office.
