Allison and Michael met during Allison’s semester abroad at the University of Stirling in Stirling, Scotland. Despite following very different courses of study—biology for Allison and law for Michael—the two met by chance outside their residence building when a fire alarm went off at 3 a.m. “We all filed out of our section of the building, but I was standing alone, since I didn’t know anyone yet,” Allison says. “Michael came over, introduced himself and we talked for the next hour. We had coffee the next day and ended up spending the whole day together. We’ve been together ever since.”
