Déjà and Mars aren’t the types to let a little rain ruin their parade. With a wedding party of 18 by their sides, the New York residents returned to their home state to exchange vows at Kuhs Estate and Farm, forgetting the foreboding forecast in favor of fun. “We partied until a gust of wind blew through the tent,” Déjà says. That’s when everyone made an early exit to the tune of tornado sirens and a torrential downpour.

Déjà’s mother, a woodworker, built the ceremony arch, while her grandmother, a horticulturist, helped guide the day’s flower choices. Eucalyptus and white blooms echoed the dried and live greenery hanging from handmade frames above the space. “It felt like having dinner in your backyard garden with family,” Déjà says.  Before a vegetarian- and vegan-friendly meal, guests snacked on hors d’oeuvres and played lawn games while listening to retro jams. The musical variety continued into the reception, where guests grooved as a DJ spun hits from every decade.
