Rustic Garden Wedding at Pecan Springs Ranch in Dripping Springs, Texas
Katy Wood (28, high school English teacher) and Michael Andrade (28, middle school science teacher and football coach) both went to Tarleton State University for college, but didn’t meet until they were in the same hotel for Spring Break in Panama City, Florida. Katy’s friends spotted Michael and dared her to kiss him while on vacation. Katy won the bet, and shortly after, Michael asked Katy to go on their first date. Michael proposed on a date to the Houston aquarium in front of the large, circular tank and took Katy to a Rockets game afterwards to celebrate. The two had a rustic, garden party wedding at Pecan Springs Ranch in Dripping Springs, Texas—the halfway point between their families on opposite ends of the state. “We fell in love with the scenery of the Austin area,” says Katy, so the couple had an outdoor ceremony underneath a grove of trees. Katy wore a white silk wedding gown with a cowl back and a dramatic beaded accent, and her bridesmaids wore strapless navy chiffon dresses. They each carried loose bouquets of white and blush flowers, including hydrangeas, dusty miller, tulips, roses, ivy and mixed greenery. The groomsmen wore casual light gray suits with bow ties that matched the bridesmaids. For the cocktail hour, Katy and Michael set up lawn games for people to play. “We had plenty of sing-alongs, two-stepping and fun music to keep the crowd going during the reception,” says Katy. The couple had a three-tier ombre naked cake with multiple flavors of frosting, and a milk and cookie bar with the couple’s favorite treats. Katy and Michael’s wedding truly embodied the couple’s casual atmosphere at the ranch surrounded by the natural elements of Texas.
