Rustic Fall Summer Camp Wedding in Minnesota
Laura Hanson (30 and a senior pricing analyst) and Joe Walker (39 and a grant manager) embraced the simplicity and serenity of the great outdoors with a rustic camp wedding. “We wanted a venue that allowed us to create our vision, and we loved that it allowed us to spend the whole weekend in the woods,” Laura says. From stationery adorned with greenery to yard games that accompanied an outdoor cocktail hour and a reception painted in fresh herbs, the couple’s day focused on the beauty of nature—and love.
Instead of a tiered cake, the pair embraced Laura’s Danish heritage and served a kransekake, a traditional pastry baked in rings and stacked to form a tower.
Laura chose a flowy gown embellished with lace for her day- of look, while Joe paired his classic forest-green suit with a fresh pair of white sneakers and a watch that Laura gave him as a wedding gift.
Laura carried an overflowing arrangement of ferns, olive branches and eucalyptus dotted with white garden roses and ranunculus. Laura and her family created DIY escort cards by hand-pressing flowers or greenery onto mini envelopes and placing a note inside each, thanking guests for celebrating with them. Potted mint, thyme and oregano lined the center of the reception tables for a clean and crisp look.
