Rustic Autumn-Themed Wedding at the Historic Pinecrest in Palmer Lake, Colorado
Because Kali Oda (23 and a Montessori school assistant director) and Shane Malmquist (22 and a data analyst) met, became friends and eventually fell in love while working at the Air Force Academy's golf course, it was no surprise that they got married there too. Using warm autumn color as their inspiration, Kali and Shane crafted their country-chic wedding day using a seasonal palette of burnt orange, gold and red. They were wed in the middle of the fairway on hole one under a 10-foot cross built by Kali's dad. The majestic setting nestled in the shadow of the Rocky Mountains meant little additional decor was needed. "From being married beneath Christ's sacrificial cross to being wed on the very golf course where we fell in love, every detail was representative of who we are and what we have passions for," Kali says. In keeping with the vibe of staying true to themselves, it was very important to Kali not to sacrifice comfort. "The lace of my gown fit perfectly into our rustic style, including the layers that were playful and unique," she says. "I didn't want to feel stiff, uncomfortable or not me, so my dress had movement, my hair was curled and worn down, my boots were fabulously me, and my makeup and jewelry were simple." —Meghan Overdeep
