A Simple, Romantic Wedding at Hidden Pond in Kennebunkport, Maine
Emiko (Emi) and Daniel (Dan), both lawyers, hoped their wedding would feel like a mini New England vacation for their 85 guests. Everyone stayed at Hidden Pond, where they had a seafood bake welcome party and watched the couple exchange vows in a birch forest. A soft blue and gray palette, family-style dinner and loose arrangements of garden roses, peonies and anemones kept the vibe relaxed. The pair’s watercolor invitations included a map with local attractions like Nunan’s Lobster Hut.
“We wanted our wedding to feel like a romantic spring garden party,” Emi says. The couple decorated tables with patterned linens, bud vases, blue water glasses and rattan chargers. Guests grazed on pork belly slices, lobster rolls and mac-and-cheese balls ahead of the main meal. Personalized wood peg dolls topped the lemon and vanilla buttercream cake. Emi and Dan brought out s’mores for the after-party. Emi and Dan cozied up in a 1956 Ford station wagon.
