A Romantic, Industrial Wedding at Cadillac Service Garage in Greensboro, North Carolina

After rescheduling twice because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Andrea and Kelvin were finally able to celebrate their wedding day with a beautiful romantic-yet-industrial celebration at Cadillac Service Garage in Greenboro, North Carolina. "We didn't have a specific theme, but more so wanted our wedding guests to be wowed by the venue and the beauty we added with florals (mission accomplished!)," explains Andrea. "Our color palette was navy blue, dusty blue, eucalyptus green, and white."

Andrea and Kelvin kicked off their wedding with a ceremony focused on love and inclusivity. "We did not have any cultural elements incorporated in our ceremony—we wanted to make sure the officiant made all people physically and virtually feel included in our special day regardless of religious beliefs, he preached love," recalls Andrea. "We had a circular ceremony that allowed for all guests including our wedding party to sit around us in a circle. This element was super special to Kelvin and me as it made us feel close to our guests."

To ensure that the planning was as stress-free as possible, Kelvin and Andrea skipped DIY projects and left the details of their wedding to the pros. "It was important for Kelvin and I to leave the decor to the experts to alleviate our time and minds," explains Andrea. "The venue is a Cadillac dealership from the 1920s that underwent an eight-year renovation to serve as a wedding venue. The owners kept many of the original details such as exposed brick, brass elements, and white-and-black tile floor. The added elements that the owners included made the space feel modern and vintage all at the same time. Our guests were wowed by the large building and high ceilings."

Andrea goes on to explain that the floral arrangements were a key element in the couple's wedding design. "Flowers were super important to me. As I sat with my florist during the wedding planning I expressed how I wanted lots of greenery and white floral details hanging high and low on tables and from the ceilings. In the end, she executed perfectly. The most notable floral piece at my wedding with the 14 ft long hanging floral arrangement in the middle of the reception space. From afar it really did appear to be floating in thin air, guests that sat below the arrangement were in love throughout the night."

Looking back on the wedding day at Cadillac Service Garage in Greenboro, North Carolina, Andrea encourages current to-be-weds in the throes of wedding planning to "give yourself time to plan (even if it's two years) and prioritize what is most important to you. It's really easy to be influenced by family and friends, but remember it's YOUR day. The budget and the event planning can feel like a full-time job so work on a timeline and set deadlines for major milestones so you can check off accomplishments along the way. Then, once the big day comes around, take one minute each hour of your wedding day to take in the moment, put your phone down, take deep breaths, and enjoy that minute. It's a special day that will go by fast."
