Romance Met Rustic Vibes at This Barn Wedding in Manheim, Pennsylvania
After meeting one another playing basketball at Messiah College, Joshua “Josh” Clippinger (24 and a basketball player) proposed to Jocelyn Chavous (24 and a graduate student) after a scavenger hunt and won the ultimate prize. The couple hosted a rustic summer wedding in light and airy shades of white, cream, blue and gray. “We wanted the color palette to feel like a summer breeze,” the couple says. For their wedding day look, Josh looked clean and crisp in a light gray suit and vest with a white tie and brown shoes, and Jocelyn paired her lace gown with a flower crown, open-toe snakeskin heels and pearl earrings. With a summer picnic spread of potato salad and macaroni and cheese, white roses, greenery details and wood accents, the couple embraced the natural textures and shades of summer. The pair decorated the ceremony site with white drapery, string lights and glowing candles placed in glass jars to accentuate the space’s rustic charm. Jocelyn, her mother and some of her bridesmaids decorated the bridal party table with greenery garland and white roes. The lovebirds served a four-tier semi-naked cake with buttercream frosting and mousse filling, which they topped with white roses. “I thought it would be an elegant design that went with our theme,” Jocelyn says. Guests left the party with jars of strawberry jam, a special recipe in Josh’s family.
